It's a little... unnecessary... to say the least. I find that a lot of people with it never use it. It looks pretty impressive but it's often nothing more than a drag on your processes that'll never be functional. But if you're interested in using it, first place I'd look is deviantart for skins.

yeah definitely some possibly uses:
media player, better looking shortcuts, quicker access to emails/rss feeds (my emil is always up so not a thing for me).
Something I have been using ALOT has been text launcher programs. two examples are launchy and executor (i use executor despite less popular bc I couldnt open steam games on launchy). These are cool bc I just hit alt+space to open a small text box, then type any program/macro I want to run

I'm using Rainmeter for the clock and the informations at the left hand bottom corner. I'm also using RocketDock, because I hate having all those icons of different colours on my desktop :) To me it's just for a better looking desktop :)

I started with the "how to do you own skins" guide they have. I'm just using the most basic shit (hour/date) in a layout I like (and made myself, very easy shit).

So yeah, if you want to have exactly what you need on your desktop, go ahead and read that guide. Else take some skins from deviantart or something.
I'm with >>5993147 about what you'll be using it for.
