There is a technological limit to the capacity if machine intelligence based in size weight and heat generation of parts.
On top of that I fear the concept if intelligence does nit translate well to machine language... Machines can be faster, have higher capacity for memory/recall, or just basic hardware improvements... that dies nit translate to smarter... it translates to more efficiency... but nit intellect.
Intelligence would derive from actual mental constructs and capacity for learning and teaching itself... which I think would be limited by hardware and time constraints significantly more than most think.
I strongly doubt we will be able to ever craft truly sentient AI...
