Okay, so, I need your help. Desperately. And don't tell me to ask in the desktop thread. I tried that. Everyone was too busy circlejerking to give me a decent answer.

I just got Windows 8. I've been messing around with it, got Start8, a pretty wall, and a nicely coordinated VS, but here's my problem: I can't change .exe icons. And yes, I have tried every tool I know of.

IconPackager: Skinned everything but the .exe's. None of the IconDeveloper shit seemed able to do it either.

Properties menu: Just straight up didn't do anything. I went in, showed it the .ico file, and it didn't do shit. Tried it multiple times, as this was what I had to do to get Windows 7 icons to change. Windows has quite obviously "upgraded" this feature, as now it doesn't work at all. Real good, Bill Gates. Real good.

Resource Hacker: Gave me some "cannot rename original file. saving cancelled" bullshit. Googled all over the place trying to find out why. Found lots of people asking the same question and zero answers.

Icon Tweaker: Couldn't find a version that works for Windows bloody 8. If one exists, a link would be greatly appreciated.

These are the only options I know of that I have available, and I am beginning to suspect that what I am trying to do is simply impossible; that you cannot change .exe icons on Windows 8, and I simply have to live with a shitty desktop until I get fed up and switch this sucker to 7.

So anyway, this is not a one-sided offer. Since I'm asking for help, I will offer something in return. Over the years, I've amassed some 1500 walls. Some, I've dug up from photography sites and Photoshopped into something I like as a wallpaper, so you may have never seen them before; some are from here, or Wallbase (RIP). Point is, ask and you shall receive. I also do shops, anything from removing text to colour grading (I'm especially good at this) to glitch art. I'll answer any request, but I'll prioritize those that come with an answer.
