I've been looking into Touhou's stories with a friend of mine, and we've found a lot of tradition and traditional festivals incrusted in the different stories, so I was just thinking, what about some nice japanese wallpapers?

My favorite festival is Tanabata, also known as Stars festival. It celebrates the encounter between Orihime (Vega) y Hikoboshi (Altair), which love each other. The milky way, a river fully made of stars, separetes this two lovers, so they can only see each other once a year, during the seventh day of the seventh "moon month" on the lunisolar calendar.

It depends on the region, but a lot of people celebrate Tanabata the 07/07 every year, and some others, actually DO celebrate it on the seventh day of the seventh month on the lunisolar calendar, whichi this year is going to be the 20th August :D!
Normally people right down on paper wishes they have, sometimes as poems, and tie them up to the bambu trees.

Setsubun is the day before the beginning of Spring in Japan, and it normally comes with Mamemaki, which means litterally "bean scattering" :D it is done to keep far away demons and the bad stuff from the last year. There must be someone wearing a demon mask like those in the photo, which are called Ori masks, and throw out the door these beans while others in the household say "Demons out, good luck in!"
