>>6122153Alright guys. So I took my own crack at it, trying to achieve the effect from scratch without a source photo, and here's the result.
It's just a test of the technique, but it works.
If you're wondering about how I did it, I followed the OP's instructions a bit.
First, I created the scene in blender.
Next, I found some seamless textures to use. In photoshop, I used the mosaic filter on these.
I then took a shadow map of the landscape, and placed that texture over the grass, and set the shadow map on multiply.
The reason I did this, is because usually with low poly, adding textures usually seem to smooth out a lot of the hard edges. Using pre-rendered shadows in a shadow map, allows me to already have those edges, and put the texture on top.
From there, it's just as simple as applying the texture to the objects via a UV map, and repeating the process for any other objects in the scene.
It wasn't too bad of a process, and it achieves similar results to the OP's, albeit from a different source.
Anyway, this has been a pretty great technique to learn. I might use it later on down the road for some cool ass wallpapers.
Thanks for the inspiration OP! Keep up the awesome work!
