I can not recap hundreds of years of art history and theory, but essentially it's a lot like how people are able to meme on 4chan on an entirely different level than historical people would talk or even write to each other. history shapes people and their ability to think, speak, read, understand. arists of any kind often are way ahead of their time, and even though there is a lot of modern art I find hideous, I understand now where it is coming from. You can look at modern art as what outsiders see if they stumble into a /b/ thread. Disgusting, unshapely, disrespectful nonsense. But there are meanings behind the levels of disguise, and sometimes there is genius.
