Then, for the purpose of doing watermarks, I found the "Smart Remove Selection" filter (which I had to find and download.) It ends up in "filters/enhance/smart remove selection."
Then I found it works best if you select a small, similar area. If I select the whole watermark, too much surrounding stuff gets blended in. So I select the small area with the ropes for the blinds, smart remove that. Then I do the small area around the "R", then the bigger area all by itself. Then I "undo", try again if things are bad. Then I just do simple retouching with paintbrush if needed.
