I tried ricing but I'm starting to fear that I'm fucking retarded... I want to change my explorer frame (windows7) but don't manage to do so...

I replaced ExplorerFrame.dll in both Sys32 and SysWoW64 or whatever but nothing changes. Can you provide me with links or solutions ?

Using some in tandem is considered ricing, but you have yet to even cover the basics.
Uninstall rainmeter and start over. If you still find a need for it then reinstall and only use what you need from it.

I know its hard to imagine, but the second monitor (on the right) is larger, but with shittier res, so the skies/shadows actually match really nicely irl

That's not a taskbar but a launcher (Since you can't manage your tasks with it). With that said, I really don't like it because I don't think it really adds any functionality to your desktop that's not already part of your desktop. If you want to keep it I would recommend picking a better font (Keep it consistent) and fix your font rendering (Notice the clock is being cut off on the bottom) and replace the orange border on the bottom with a slight drop shadow it'll add depth to it.

It's the "add more skins", "needs more skins", "what about the weather", "jacket meme skin", "add visualizers" that's shitposting.
None of these make the desktops "better" in terms of functionality (and imo ruins most of the aesthetics). It's not constructive towards making a desktop better for it's user.

I'm not trying to say rainmeter is bad. Rainmeter is extremely flexible and VERY useful but not for clocks/music controls/dates. Most of those are redundant and don't do anything for the desktop itself (Especially considering how most people use their computers).

There's nothing wrong with that. I've nearly always said that if someone likes the way their desktop is then my opinion doesn't matter, but keep the standard high anon. The purpose of ricing is to increase functionality and add utility to a desktop and the feedback (mostly shitposting) given to these desktops doesn't serve that purpose.
Maybe I'm just stuck in the way these threads used to be but these posts are counterproductive to what ricing is.

It's not really hard to edit actually (Especially if you're only changing colors). It's actually very easily configured.
And tmk, you'll have to use a different plugin to replace the last.fm one it's using (And I don't even know if there is one). You don't need to have a last.fm though, it's not required.

I'm reading the guide right now, but the whole thing is is kinda buggy for me, like I by accident went into some fullscreen mode, and I can't resize it.

Then I downloaded the modified version from nanami-tan and it shows no Album Art, even if it's enabled. But I guess I will have to tinker with it a bit.

The modified one doesn't have album art.
You may be able to fix the resize problem with this though.
Press Ctrl+P and go to main window and make sure you have the "Disable Window Resizing" unchecked.

Because technically the Adult Swim Singles be above. (Main Folder is Music, then would come Adult Swim Singles Program, then the year and inside is the track.) but somehow it sorts by artists name.

This isn't the only example, so it mainly creates problems with Albums which have several Artists. Or if some Songs are wrongly taged with no Artist.

Hmmm. I'm not sure how it deals with the music library. It may be automatically set to sort by artist. See if you can add a button for Lib View next to [bio] [lyr] [vis]. Set it up the same way the other buttons are (i.e. width, height, padding, etc.)

As much as I like these aesthetically minimal desktops, I worry that the productivity would take a dive.
I do a ton of work and school work on my computer, I use a huge amount of programs, I just don't see these kind of desktops as holding any feasibility other than showing them off for screen shots.

The thing is, while aesthetically minimal I haven't lost any functionality. If it was otherwise it would kind of betray what minimal is (Removing elements for clean design without sacrificing functionality/utility). My desktop in specific is made with me in mind and probably won't work very well for other poeple.
Ricing should never remove functionality of your computer. For example, I'm >>6390656. All I have running is a VS (With only certain titlebars hidden) and blackbox running on top of explorer. I also use winsplit to move my windows along with a autohotkey script to move windows around without using titlebars/dragging borders.
If being minimal means losing functionality you're doing it wrong.

Of course rainmeter is easy, threw a few custom icons in, grabbed some simple skins and what not but I'd like to do more while keeping the ease of access.

To start, you can always use a complete visual style. I think you are using one by the way your borders are, but it looks broken and unfinished. Try to find something complete that fits your taste.
I'd make the fonts you use consistent through your widgets/browsers/etc. (where you can, not everything has to be changed though). I'd recommend using Mactype to fix your font rendering. Use the W7 LCD profile, it works wonders.

There are 4 main types of people here

Type I: Ricer
Summary: The Ricer is somebody who likes to customize their desktops and share it with other people, although they only interact with people with about the same knowledge, never helping the New Guys (see Type II), unless Saturn is aligned with Neptune and the Capricorn house interacts with Scorpio on a Mayan new year. Occurrence: Almost every thread regularly, otherwise when the grass gets tall and water abounds they appear on every single thread.

Type III:Mute Beggar
Summary: The Mute Beggar is not a faggot but a huge faggot just like the Archons (see Type IV), they are not new anymore but not experienced enough. Their main characteristic is asking vague questions only to ignore every single answer and not being content with this they ask the same vague not only on /wg/ but also on every single desktop thread on every board that has one, making them a cosmopolitan species.

Their speech has little variation suggesting the same rainmeter skins alongside with ''simple''.
Occurrence: Every thread with a New Guy on it.

Here's what I would suggest you do.
I'd start with uninstalling rainmeter (or just hiding all of your skins for now.
Look at nanami-tan's newfag guide to get you started in building an aesthetic. A good start would be finding a visual style you like and using it. This is really up to you but is almost always a must (Except in certain cases, like using Aero Glass on W8.1).
If you want to rice your browser, get Firefox and look for a CSS you like or use your own. There are plenty that are nice on nanami-tan. If you don't quite like it, CSS is very easy to edit (Colors, sizes, margins, etc.).
Since I can see you listen to music I'd recommend using a good music player that you can rice to keep the aesthetic your making consistent (This is optional really. There are very rice friendly music players such as Foobar and AIMP).

AIMP is noob friendly if you want to make a skin yourself from scratch, but I would personally choose Foobar. If you don't want any player like this I would recommend at this point using a good rainmeter skin (Personally I would just make one myself) that is similar to your visual style. This is the point at which rainmeter has utility but it's important to stay consistent.
There's a lot more but at this point I think you can easily make your way through things and find a good look for yourself. Just remember, even if your desktop sucks/is amazing you don't have to change shit. This is all just general feedback and advice I'd give to anyone who is really just starting to get into this.

I never said rainmeter is bad. It's very useful in filling in gaps or building on an aesthetic. There is nothing wrong with liking rainmeter it's just important to know where and when to use it, like the above example of using it to build a music widget that is consistent with your visual style. If you don't want to do this, then don't. It's still your desktop and if you like it the way it is then don't change anything.
