Honestly, BO, stale air, or "unclean" things (dirty towels, clothes, etc., unchanged garbage, dank microwave, shitty fast food, and so on) smell up a place way worse than cigarettes ever could.
All you have to do is not be a total slob and most people can't even tell that you smoke, drink, or whatever else.
