However that mentality is fading away. the states are in huge debt, unless they role back alot of welfare. they are having trouble with immigration for the moment, and dealing with a european union in free fall, not to mention the recession of themselves and surrounding countries.
Tt might be the happiest country for the moment, or in the past decades. but the effects of drinking too much is usually a hangover. and its not going to be light, is my prediction.
