But aesthetically, I needed something else in there for balance, more notably the side view. Front view could do well without it, but the facade of the building was pretty flat due to the angle.
As for the architecture, it is indeed a Ziggurat. The inspiration mainly came from the ancient Sumerian Ziggurats (specifically, the Ziggurat of Ur). I took some artistic liberty with the design, but I tried to keep it as accurate as possible. I debated whether or not to add a dome to it as well, and asked a few of my ArtH professors whether a dome was a common feature, but I ultimately decided against it.
As for the program it was modeled in, I created it in Blender. It's not all one mesh, with the main body and sub features being separate.
Ultimately, the whole reason for the pape was to see if a Ziggurat could fit into the style. They're one of my favorite types of ancient structures. I started the project almost a year ago and dropped it. I only just now picked it back up and finished it.
