that's neat, but ubuntu is trash, and your Desktop envirornment is trash. If it turns out you can't stand it, don't let it turn you off linux entirely. install something like XFCE, Cinnamon, or i3 (hackers only plz no scrubs) for Desktop envirornment, and if you have trouble with packages, get Arch or Manjaro.

This. Even if you hate the fact that the dock is on the left you can move it to bottom if that's your preference, and move the drop-down menus from taskbar to individual Windows. Unity tweak tool is very useful if you'd like to customize the UI further.
