>>6777742I'll be honest. The Witcher 3 does a lot of shit right, but it gets quite a bit wrong.
It sort of... banishes the idea of experimentation. Your abilities in TW3 are entirely based on Geralt's knowledge. Want to make a potion? Geralt has to know it to make it.
TW3 is also rather devoid of explorative elements. The world map feels more like Assassin's creed than a typical RPG. You can help anyone you find, but no one you can't. There are no random encounters and there are no caves to "stumble upon". It's all pre-determined and unlocked when you come accross the quests that connect to them.
Skyrim was 99.99% trial and error fuckery. Want to clear a cave? Don't let me stop you, go in there and kill everything. You wanted an artifact out of the old ruins? Forget that. Already got it. Killed the boss too. Think I'll dedicate four hours to getting a better sword... that's doable here.
Granted, I love TW3. I think it's fun as fuck, but it isn't a full-scale RPG. You have an open world, but the tasks done there are anything but open... besides gathering herbs and hunting I guess. Everything else has to be sparked by a quest or story-driven motive.
