The forests were full of magical beings, God was real and in charge of destiny, kings fat from eating so much and wearing the shiniest gold you've ever seen, soldiers clad in clanking metal and clunky shields, old ruins spread out reminding you of a past empire lost long ago, and foreign bands of sea people showing up over night to raid and burn churches. Must have been odd... then again they'd say the same about our lives.
