Pretty sure that's what Russia was saying like 50 years ago. Nietzsche claimed God is dead 100 years ago. Roman philosophers said the same.
Religion/Atheism both have their high and low points (number of believers) in constant flux. When one is high the other is low and the high gets convinced it will always stay that way. But neither are going anywhere.
