The West (Aman) was removed from Middle-Earth's plane of existence, and the Arda was made round, during the Second Age, after the Fall of Númenor. So neither Beleriand (sunk into the ocean) nor Aman (now in another plane) is accesible to Humans anymore by the time of LotR, though Aman can still be travelled to by the Elves.
