And he's the 2nd lead in the film (not counting Han Solo) so no shit he's going to be at the forefront of the marketing. They were also intentionally trying to hide Rey's character being as important as she is so they played up Finn being the Jedi and showing him with the lightsaber in all of the trailers and posters.
Don't know what "muh stong wimmins" pandering you're referring to with Rey. I take it you had no issue with Padme in the arena in AOTC? Her plot armor was way thicker than Rey's is and it was completely undeserved, unlike with Rey where at least the film heavily hinted at the fact the title referred to her and the Force is strong as fuck in her.
