Alright anons I'm gonna need some OS advice asap. Should I install Mint or or some other install of Ubuntu. The biggest feature I'm looking for is customization, as well as decent enough stability. I didn't wanna go to /g/ with this question because of the obvious "install Gentoo" replies. Anyways why not make this a Linux desktop thread as well

instal ubuntu, i had mint some time ago but now i would have gone for ubuntu because it is so much different than windows.

If you are using the cinnamon desktop environment you should be able to customize anything you want.

I really like mint, but there's nothing wrong with ubuntu or another distro.

Why arch? just because it doesn't have a gui/installer doesn't make it any more customize-able than even a kiddie distro like mint.

This person is obviously new and the first thing you do is ask him to go loose valuable time figuring out how to install BASIC SHIT

Install ubuntu, LTS or current, it has A SHITTON OF SUPPORT AND PACKAGES.

If you happen to run into an issue, you'll find help easier with ubuntu.
If you happen to WANT TO CUSTOMIZE, google how to customize your application, 99% of the time it's not distro-specific. How you customize your desktop will be the same in debian/arch/fedora/centos/etc 99% of the time.
I'm using fedora on my laptop daily, and ubuntu/centos on my server, and i can tell you from experience, ubuntu is the way to go always unless you got a specific niche to fill.

i use it daily and no.... from my anecdotal expeience, packages are so new that you run into more issues than something like ubuntu
