Among other details, cherry trees bloom long before other trees fill out that much in their full greenary. Further, pink (or "red") dogwoods are hybrids that are almost exclusively propagated by grafting. So, either the artists didn't know that or they were painting an actual scene where the dogwoods were planted. Which is very possible. I live in Pennsylvania, and this scene could be a country road that I bicycle on.
