Personally, I like it. I get each book as it comes out, but it's not one I set a reminder for. There humor is there, as I recall. It's just more sass and ... I don't know how to describe it.
I do like how well he's able to pull stuff together. I think some of the best plot line continuity and congruity comes from Jim Butcher. There are hints and teasers to stuff in a book, that won't come to be revealed until a few books later.
Butcher draws from a bunch of mythologies too. Not Ilona Andrews Kate Daniel's series wide, but... Iron Druid, maybe.
Give it a try. His first 3 books, I think, can be sort of skipped. They were his first novels, and aren't as great. After that, they really pick up.
