Hi. I'm 23. 19 is still fresh in my memory, as are the mistakes I've made since then, and things I've learned.
Here is some advice from me.
1. Keep in mind that people outside of your family will begin to no longer treat you like anything but a fully grown adult, despite you being inexperienced comparatively.
2. Don't tell anybody shit, particularly in work situations, just don't tell anybody shit. 50 coworkers believing a rumor about you or exaggerating an opinion about you can ruin your life forever.
3. Big one. You're going to put at least 100 dollars every paycheck in a savings account and you're going to budget the rest so you never have to touch it. As soon as you can afford even the dankest and used of trailer homes and a small plot of land to put it on, you buy it. (20k for me not counting septic system)
Then what? You never have to pay rent again. Just property tax. For me, in a small plot of land and used trailer, like 80 dollars twice a year. So you're going to take of half of what you would normally spend on rent and put that away in savings every month. This can be the money you're going to buy a better place with, or the money you use to improve your home, or build a new one on your land. By the time you're 30 you're going to be like, Holy shit, I'm glad i'm not still answering to a fucking landlord.
