The white background just makes them even more bland. Try to make it a bit more colorful, and like Anon said, less is more

I'm assuming you're using photoshop. Try this for selecting hair:

It one of the things I notice first when seeing cropped images on a color background. Also try gradients with subtle color differences for background.

good job on stock image quality though. i HATE seeing over stretched images, especially on wallpapers
