>>7482136Have you ever been to Asia? There are places in China and India that look like they were straight ripped from cyberpunk settings. Maybe there isn't the same scale of megastructures but you've got the combination of low life and high society, the lights, the wealthy using helicopters to get around while the plebes grovel in the dirt below, mass surveillance and government/corporate conspiracy. To be honest with you, I think that by 2050 there will be plenty of cyberpunk cannon that seems far preferable to the reality that people would be living. two hundred thousand people packed into a square kilometer without any of the cybernetics to allow for escapism, bands of children hustling adults straight from a Charles Dickens book, infrequent access to public goods, and ghettos so dangerous that when someone dies the body just gets tossed in a pile and no one ever bothers to pick them up for fear of getting murdered.
The west will be a green utopia most likely, and China and Japan won't be too bad either, but India and Africa are going to be horrifying in a whole slew of ways that'll make it seem like Leopold's ghost never left.
