bspwm spawns widows similarly enough to i3 to it being pretty much usable after having it set up but adds a lot of new functionality while keeping the code slim.
it sounds autistic at first to having to set up this stuff yourself but separating the different components of your wm makes it much more intuitive.
(+if you decide bspwm doesn't do it for you anymore you can take everything except the bspwm.conf for your next rice)
