The whole point of diets is to make permanent lifestyle changes AND train/condition your body and metabolism to give up the old habit and adopt and adapt to the new eating habit.
"Fasting" (starving yourself) is NOT adapting your body to a new lifestyle. It's starving yourself, while your body and metabolism sit there and freak the fuck out over why things are different and start acting out in dangerous and unhealthy ways instead of adapting.
