>>7584854I believe the closest anyone has gotten to lore is tying that spherical artifact to a Yu'vath artifact. Yu'vath were a xenos species that were basically in 100% communion with the Warp and Chaos. Their entire civilization's technology was based around interacting with the warp and chaos energy. No one knows how their technology worked; and those who attempt to figure out it out typically end up going mad, dying OR tearing a fucking hole in the void and opening a portal to the warp. The Yu'Vath were so advanced they were able to teleport entire planets into and out of the warp. They also had huge installations, with what you could call "AI" that worked with the warp and the materials in which these machines, now derelict, were created with match the description of that sphere thing in Astartes. The guy communing with the spheres looks like a adeptus mechanicus tech priest/psyker. I forget does the mechanicum utilize psykers? Regardless, trying to commune with those warp fueled Yu'Vath AI basically melted his brain. I'm assuming because one of the so-called "AIs" is a prisoner of the Imperium and was brought close enough to the other sphere to somehow merge their powers together.
