we're going through a period of stagnation. most of our technological advanements are meant to either sedate us, or destroy us.
it won't be until we've all but destroyed the planet that we actually make a full blown, unified effort to save it. That's when we'll have our next major boom in technology that will actually improve the lives of the people, vs, say, a new smart phone/higher resolution tv.
