I ran into this really cool LOTR illustrations. They're by Ukrainian artist Sergey Yukhimov (Юхимoв), and were done in the style of Christian icons for a Russian 1992 edition of LOTR, which is apparently hard to find.

I spent some time removing the text and stopped after two of them since I was doing kind of a subpar job at it.

Thread for "alternative" Lotr art, however people want to interpret that word.
