>>7671863I think the comfy in Syd's work came from him always generating a vision of a space people lived in, most of the early 20th century futurism was abstract, visions of tall but sterile and seemingly functionless towers and people in aluminum foil suits kind of stuff, or low satire there of, as early as his US Steel promo set he depicted the future as a place people worked and lived, and his take on "gritty realism" was was beat up but working utility machines rather than nihilistic dystopian emoshit, though he did make pretty much concept art for what seems like all of the works that had that in the foreground.
