>>7692486I actually disagree, while I'm not a huge fan of fashwave anymore, when I first saw it I thought "shit, that looks awesome", especially the fusion of classic art with the retro 90's stuff, it sort of combined the nostalgia of my childhood, which most people see as better times, with the better times of my race.
I think the trouble isn't the art, it's the lack of originality or development within it, its so formulaic now, bit of distortion, some scanlines, maybe some RGB in there.. I'd like to see people using this appeal to nostalgia in a more creative way.
I maintain that nostalgia is a powerful tool in propaganda, I mean the fact older East Germans are nostalgic for the hellish socialist state that they used to live under because it had its little quirks is proof enough of that.
