Though it still works well enough most of the time, but it can be tricky, especially if you want spot on
So I use Photoshop
Do a couple of curves, an RGB one for the shadows/highlights and another where I use the eyedropper tool to highlight my brightest, darkest, and middle areas, it can make short work of getting to the right temperature
...Except when it doesn't get it still exactly where I want it, but then editing the color values individually and maybe a mask or two and I'm done in 10 minutes tops
