>>7893879>You didn't buy the game, you paid for a license that gives you the right to play it.Oh for the good old days when a new game or other piece of software came on a physical disc that you owned forever and which didn't have any kind of DRM built in or required an always-on internet connection to register/authenticate/use it in some (often) multistep process that meant giving away all of your personal details and entire life history to some faceless tech company so that they AND their "friends" could endlessly spam you with marketing crap you had no interest in; now everything's subscription this and digital download that and almost nobody really physically owns any software any more.
>>7893878If you thought the account switching thing was a total rip, wait 'til you figure out that microsoft are (not very) quietly trying to move everyone away from the original Java version of the game onto the Bedrock edition (and Windows 10/11 wherever possible), hence the account switching thing, which was quickly followed by the Java edition being included on the xbox live platform alongside the Bedrock edition, and now MS has announced they're soon going to be giving away licenses for the bedrock edition to existing Java-only users.
MS basically wants the Java version gone, Java is OS independent, thus the Java version of Minecraft doesn't help MS sell new copies of Windows, and so MS don't want to deal with the Java version any longer than they have to, sooner than later they'll make the Java version go away forever and entirely replace it with the bedrock version, even if it means some Mac/Linux/pre-Win10 users get left behind and won't be able to play the game any longer.
