>>8035225Why HL2 specifically though? I would perhaps make the argument crysis is the cut off as it is the first high profile game that was built in a way more like current approaches? Or should we say deferred rendering is the cut off given that lead to a clear divide in old vs new (particularly for having loads of lights). Or perhaps we could go back a step from that and have the cut off based around software rendering?
One could make a case for all of these scenarios but it isn't going to cause any sort of consensus.
