Daz3D (the current owners of Bryce) do tend to put the latest version of the program on sale like 2-3 times a year; in the past they have been known to discount the price of Bryce 7.1 Pro even more than 50%, so for those of you playing with the free copy of Bryce 5.5, if you find you really enjoy that version, you might find it worthwhile to spend the few dollars getting 7.1 Pro while it's on sale.
On a related note, Bryce is only a 32-bit application, as such it can only make use of at most about 2Gb of RAM, fortunately there is a patch program that can be used to expand this limit to about 3.5Gb (useful when processing larger renders), this patch can be found at the link below:
https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/N.B. It should be possible to use this patch with both the free copy of Bryce 5.5 as well as the latest Bryce 7.1 Pro. In theory the patch should also be useful for most other 32-bit apps that are particularly memory intensive.
Additionally, for Mac users, Bryce 7.1 Pro is only compatible with MacOS up to version 10.6 (I think), as far as I'm aware there's no workaround for this to get it working on more recent versions of MacOS.
