Toram isn't a true retro game since it was released in 2015, but the company behind it took inspiration from the looks of older games, especially with some of their earlier projects. Unfortunately Toram is a mobile MMORPG with light gacha elements, but it was made during an era where at least a few mobile game companies still thought they had to make good games if they wanted people to give them money. The late game still has some enjoyable aspects, but most of the fun is in the earlier areas if you're one of the few players willing to go off the beaten path and into the areas that aren't a part of the main quest, or any quest for that matter. That sense of mystery is what made some of these maps so magical to me back in the day when I was 15.
