The internet is fucked and it's only getting fuckier. What used to be comfy forums with energetic vibrant communities are now dead empty web addresses. The communities from these forums migrated to reddit and social media, becoming more social and less of a community. The very few ones still standing are either SJW central or have a handful of users still posting out of nostalgia and nothing else.
In 2007 thousands of websites were competing for traffic on the internet. In 2014 that number was 35. In 2021 Google and Youtube made up more traffic by themselves than the next 35 top websites combined. In 2022 the internet is political enough for a bunch of transgender child molesters to be able to cry their way into censoring the last big forum without the forum breaking laws or hosting any law-breaking content.
All the development from the past 10 years has led to shrinking rather than expanding of the network and it's going to continue that way. Less than 20 corporations get to decide first-hand what does and doesn't go on the internet. Will be even fewer in 10 more years, with even fewer websites and even less free speech but probably much more social because of the ''social credit-like'' systems.
Cherish this godforsaken hell hole because it's all we've got and all we're getting.
