The correct correct solution is to take ownership of the top-level container everything's inheriting from (\users.old\your_username), and then all the inherited permissions will just work for literally everything inside the container and job done.
The main thing is that you could have spent twenty minutes actually learning how NT ACLs work, rather than hours trying to make them work the way you want them to work.
