I think I heard that my PS3 needs the graphics chip reballed. I looked up the process and it looks like some high risk repair for someone doing it for the first time. Also it requires special tools. I assume some service like that would cost as much as getting a new PS3.
>>1506881Yeah I tried that but I ran into some issue with the save files not being able to be used by another user. I had to patch the save files using some hombrew app called Apollo.
I purchased a Japanese Final Fantasy PS3 slim and already notice that this console also needs new thermal paste. Its running loud on just the menu screen. Kinda annoying since I assumed buying a PS3 that was kept in better shape might require less maintenance. Not the case. I guess all PS3 need some sort of maintenance work to keep in decent working shape.
