Ihave had close friends’ parents struggle through dishonesty and cheating. Some pertain and some break. If it’s happening there’s very likely unresolved issues. Exposition provides an opportunity to deal with such issues and ultimately determines whether the foundation of love a family is built on is strong enough to hold it together. It’s probably like an analytical evaluation. Tear the house down and find another or refurbish and strengthen.
My ex’s family went through this and became closer and more understanding of each other than any other family I know. I miss them.
