Not so long ago I finished the Yorknew City arc in HunterxHunter. I liked it so much, I'd really love to see more like it. Here's what I want:
* Modern or slightly sci-fi setting
* Mafia/gang-themed
* Dark and gritty
* Story and character-driven (maybe with some mystery?)
* Superpowered characters
* Over the top, hyperviolent action
Any recommendations that fit those criteria and would scratch that itch for me?
Please recommend only anime that can be treated as a self-contained experience - all of the episodes have been aired, ends conclusively in a satisfying way, no manga is required to be read afterwards, and there are no sequels in the works I have to wait for. Age doesn't matter.
