>>>/p/). None of this would be a huge amount of work, but it wouldn't be free. webp would take very minor modification of the existing webm code, mainly adding support for the container, whilst HEIC/AVIF would need support for thumbnailing h.265/av1 and parsing mp4.
Another possible explanation is that 4chan is waiting for this format war to blow over, or is worried about patent licenses.
