Are there any animes out there that have a H.G. Wells War of the Worlds type vibe? To narrow it down from the last time I asked, I'm looking for an anime (good or bad, I'll judge it for myself) that has a premise that sort of mirrors War of the Worlds, like it's themes of hopelessness and despair in the face of extintion, and an invasion from a technologically superior Alien Race. Also, it doesn't have to be Mecha (as in humanity builds giant robots to combat the aliens, but if that's all you can suggest, it will gladly be noted)
