Long story short, apparently the hard drive of my laptop is dying, and I received "No bootable device" error device yesterday, so I decided to stop using it until something about it is done. Luckily I already backed up the important files from my computer before turning it off. A friend of mine have suggested to get an external drive so I can back up all the other data in the hard drive though he's not sure if I will still be able to use my laptop with all my data stored in external drive even after hard drive died.
So the question is, do i need to buy a new computer since the hard drive in my laptop is dying or is it possible to replace the dying hard drive with something else?
My computer type is HP Pavilion by the way, and I really need to be able to use my computer within this week since college have just started.
