The age old advice is "lurk more." You can just read without posting for a few months to get the sense of a board. Generally speaking the more niche a board's topic is the friendlier it will be, as well as slower. Just go with your interests. Don't overshare. Don't use a trip. Don't take it too personally if someone calls you a retard or a faggot. It's just 4chan. It's not serious business. Also, don't respond to bait. Just report it and move on.
