>>1381881The predecessor to those newer ones Conan has was the venerable and accurate MDR-V6 headphones. They can be recognized from other variations such as the MDR-V600 because the V6 had a rounded metal body and the earpads were also nicely round. The V6 was created to be a studio monitor headphone. It's small rounded metal body also famously allowed people to fall asleep with them on without a thick headphone shoving itself into the side of your head. The V6 has long been retired. I bought two MDR-V6 because the first one was stolen. It was sensitive, accurate, and surprisingly affordable for its quality. As a studio monitor, it was neutral. It's main problem is that it lacked soundstage.
Later successors had less round more oval-shaped bodies and pads. The successor is the MDR-7506 which I can recommend. But I still have my V6, so I am content. For portable usage, I use the Sony MDR-AS410 ear buds. They have great low end response and are comfortable without falling off my ears.
