>>1034996>>1035021So do you think that really then, my keyboard issues are due to the spillage and unlikely to be anything else? Time perhaps? I've had around 3 years maybe.
I didn't clean inside the laptop after the spillage, just let it drain out. It was really not a lot though, and aren't these keyboards supposed to be splashproof?
That info about keyboards connecting in rows and columns is really interesting though, thanks for that. It would make sense. But I wonder why it's only those keys, and only sometimes? And why when I press harder, it does work?
>You can try opening the laptop and cleaning the PCBIs the PCB just the motherboard or would I have to go deeper? I don't really see where I would clean on here. Laptop is Acer Spin 5 SP513-52. I do have isopropyl and a spare toothbrush.
>>1034937Thanks.
>then try cleaning out the dust (after checking a teardown or a guide for your specific model)You mean a teardown of the internals? Do you think that would help? I popped the key off and cleaned there but it didn't do anything.
I cleaned out the fan recently, but I hit a snag when trying to remove the heat sink. One of the screws is stripped. I tried to get at it but just couldn't. I'm not sure I even could tear the whole thing completely down.
>>1034996>>1035021As for the cooling pad or elevating the laptop, it's a good idea really but it's been so long I just stopped caring. I bought this laptop because it's thin and lightweight, needing to shove it on a cooling pad defeats the purpose of having a laptop. When did they start designing laptops you can't even place on your lap anymore?
I got fed up of trying to baby it into making sure it's in an ideal position, and I like using it in bed too where it's on top of my blanket, so I just stopped caring and let it run hot. It's done it for ages. I don't run anything too demanding. If that was the cause of the issues, I'd have no problem since i'd have done it to myself.
