Look at, for example, the wifi control panel, which isn't even a control panel in 7, just a system tray menu. Or the inexorable drive to move everything into Settings, which is a webpage masquerading as your control panel. 7/Vista also marked the beginning of the use of conversional language throughout the OS.

Windows has nagged you to install updates since XPSP2, it has to because if you were super special and the only one who didn't keep his computer up-to-date, we wouldn't have worms, but you're not, so we do, so windows now has to nag everybody.
