As far as I can tell, Valentino just wanted to change up his business. He had monetized pickup like most of those guys do. But it probably just got old: he was likely sick of pickup itself. He probably wants a wife at this point in his life, not a "lay." I think he's about 31 now. I suppose pickup gets old after a couple years. His new business consulting business is probably more lucrative, or at least he thinks it will be.
I don't know about any scandals. A lot of times these pickup guys get accused of #metoo. Seems like he just wanted to launch a new business, one with a larger market. Think about it: pickup is a small field. You only have so many desperate 20-38 year old men, with enough courage to try pickup and willing the spend $2500 a year. Not a lot of revenue.
