the first 3 episodes are slow and will totally be boring and uninteresting if you simply judge by the characters appearance but if you can get past through it I promise you the build up will make you look back at the early episode and be thinking wtf did just happened how it ended up this way. currently eager waiting for next season and the movies.
Other anime that gives me similar vibes are Madoka Magika and Trigun.
Hmm, since the others will surely talks about serious anime or the edgy stuff I'll go with the light and relaxing theme you can watch while snacking

Sakamoto desu ka > havent you heard? The coolest guy in anime history
Sabagebu > Airsoft club and the things they do
Hentai! > something like lucky star but they talk about perverted stuff instead of otaku culture, doesn't have any hentai content.
