If you want to feel empty inside after watching a series, then look no further than Neon Genesis Evangelion. Don’t watch it all in one sitting, however, watch it in chunks per day, some episodes can hit really hard and/or have a lot to process.
Recommended order is as follows:
>1-4
>5-9
>10-14
>15-18
>19-24
>25 & 26
>End of Evangelion movie
End of Evangelion is actually the true ending of the anime rather than episodes 25 and 26 (they were clearly rushed), but you might as well watch them (some people say that the events of eps 25 & 26 probably take place in Shinji’s mind during the events of EoE).
If you do want more EVA afterwards, there’s the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy of movies that start by retelling the anime’s story, only to go in a completely different direction in the second film. The first 3 films are available in the West, but the fourth and final one literally just released in Japan last Monday, it might take a few months before it gets English subs.
